Lund Jørgensen The historic event, contemporary history presented parallel to the subjective conception of the self, is a general feature in Henrik Lund Jørgensen’s works. The experience, in the work of the artist, is continually centred on the borderland between the real and the fictive. The works oscillates between an inquisitive documentary approach, and a reality where realism subversively gives way to the personal experience and understanding of the world. The notion that also is based on urban stories, such as myths, legends and fantastic stories. In the expression of the works we are allowed to have a presentiment that what is told is played against our conceptions and expectations. Lund Jørgensen is working with audiovisual media and photography. The audiovisual technique is not arbitrarily chosen but is in its form in obvious relation to the narratives the artist builds into his works. The video media as an extension of the memory and the brains associations and production of meaning. The power lies in the image itself, the construction, the collage, and these often seem to illustrate gaps in the memory. |
